CURIUM EXCAVATIONS EPISKOPI, LIMASSOL CYPRUS

writes in a recent letter as follows: 'I quite understand the Museum's reluctance about new excavation commitments at the present time, but if we were able to show that Kourion would really be a worth while dig, I am sure you would be able to persuade them to undertake it.' As you know, I'm not a pre-Historian and have no particular interest in a neolithic site, but I wouldn't mind putting up £50 required for the trial dig if I thought the Museum might be persuaded to undertake a proper dig along the lines proposed if results looked promising..."

If this matter should still be under consideration, it is my own feeling that the Department of Antiquities here should have the last word in the choice of a site, as they are hard up and would have naturally great interest in choosing that site which might yield the best results. Megaw is an able and intelligent Director, and I dont think we can go far wrong if we rely upon his judgement. By the time I come home I hope to have some more information for you. "with kindest regards, and looking forward to seeing you in September,

Very sincerely yours,
