March 5, 1946Dear Mr. McFadden:

I acknowledge receipt of your cheques to the order of the Curium Excavation Company, one dated May 18, 1945, for $500 and the other dated July 6, 1945, in the amount of $100, to evidence the payment by you on behalf of the University of certain expenses in connection with the excavation. Since these payments were made by you on behalf of the University, we have given you credit on our books for a contribution.

To avoid confusion in the future, will you kindly forward your cheque to this office when making a gift to the University, or advise us promptly at the time the expenditure is made on behalf of the University? This will enable us to complete our records promptly.

I enclose the three cheques which accom-panied your letter of March first, the cheque for $1,000, in the amount of $1,000, having been previously sent to this office and passed through our accounts. This cheque was acknowledged to you pre-viously as a gift to the University.

Very truly yours,
