… as soon as possible.
I haven't tried to answer Virginia's or Peter Megaw's letters, but regard this as a cumulative answer to all in Cyprus. The mails are so uncertain that I often wonder if it is worthwhile writing. But if this does arrive, do give my very best to all mentioned and pass on what news there is. Also give my very best to Christo (from whom I had a letter at the same time as Virginia's) and to Savvi. Tell them that I would give my eye teeth for coffee in the apotheke.
I have been asked to be one of the Archaeological Institute's lecturers next winter. That means that I will go on tour celebrating our work in Cyprus. I am pleased not only personally, but also because of the opportunity it will give to popularize our work.
You may be amused to know that the famous "Kamares ware" sherd from Kourion in the British Museum is actually a fragment from the "Domino pot".
Alix and I had a nice visit with John Wyeth in New York recently. We saw his paintings, including some excellent new work, and spent several hours reminiscing over the good old days in Cyprus. We plan to ask him down for a visit when we get established on the farm.
Do remember me to everybody, and try to keep out of danger zones. I wonder if you really will get back this summer. If you do, we will be very glad to see you.
Alix joins me in sending you our very best wishes, as do Mrs.Dohan and Mary
As ever,
Pete.
