January 12, 1940Dear Mrs. Shipley:-

Miss Virginia Grace of the Museum staff is planning to rejoin our archaeological expedition on the Island of Cyprus, and is desirous of sailing on S.S. Saturnia on February 10th.

When she returned last year in October 18th on the S.S. Exeter her passport was taken up. The Philadelphia Bureau of Passports tells her that it may now be returned to her and I am writing to ask that this be done at your convenience.

Inasmuch as her scientific work involves a certain amount of study in Greece the passport should be made available for use not only in Cyprus but in Greece as well, if this is possible.

Miss Grace's address is 741 East Front Street, Plainfield, New Jersey, and,if you can send her the passport directly it would be a convenience.

Yours very truly

Horaee H. F. Jayne Director
