Corinth, August 9 1939.

Dear George,

It was arranged that Pete take the box of coins when he sailed last Saturday, and I expect that you will find them waiting for you at the Univ.Museum when you get to Philadelphia. Since we left Cyprus I have drawn three checks against our Ottoman Bank account: £10 July 21 to settle the Excav. acct. with me (largest item Sue Young's transportation); £24:4:4 to repay Pete the balance due on his account for June 24-July 31 (see below); and £13 Aug.5 to meet John's most pressing needs. These withdrawals leave, I think, next to nothing in the bank. Although I have not yet heard from you about replenishment of the account I have judged it best to send by today's [handwritten: mail] direct mail (as you know, such posts are fortnightly only) authorization for payments to John amounting to £50 in August and £40 in September. My letter of yesterday to John, of which I enclose a copy, will show you how I arrived at these figures. The summary of Pete's account which I gave you in my letter of August 1 can now be completed: Expenditures: Receipts: Jn 24 Bal. on hand £12: 2:5h [handwritten: Purchase of Bamboula lot] from BHH & GHM's box £13:15:0 Adv.Antoni repaid 2: Repair of Mosaic 72:10:8 Jn.27 Bank 50: Well & window screen 5:11:1 Jl. 3
