other workmen. At Apollo this will presumably be someone who can write out George's labels. I have two candidates for Bamboula, though either one is far from giving me the services I am accustomed to getting from Christo. It will mean a great deal more work for me, but I am glad to do it if it means relieving the expedition of Tryphon's dishonesty and intriguing.
You ask my [handwritten: opinion] of Sally Anderson. Personally I like her very much indeed and think she would be a real addition to the expedition. Not knowing what work you have in mind for her, it would be hard to express an opinion, [handwritten: about that]/ At Tarsus she worked with the inventory and mended terracottas, and so far as I could see, did both well. She is rather frail, and was sick several times at Tarsus, though no more so than most of the other members of the expedition. Of course health conditions here (particularly now that we have the new house) are infinitely superior to what they were at Tarsus, so she shouldn't have any trouble. From the standpoint of personal relations, she was one of the few people on the dig who was always on speaking terms with all the others (there were several quarelsome members). All in all I would be very glad to have her here and think that she would do very well.
George is very much dissapointed at your delay in getting here. He was hoping to have you here to help him when he digs the lower levels at Apollo, as he had hoped to do this year. We all hope that you will spend some time when you do come. There are numerous points [handwritten: ink] on the Bamboula on which I would like to have your advice. I hope that you have a most interesting season at Pylos, and look forward to hearing of your results when you come here in May. It should prove to be a most interesting site.
With my best wishes to Mrs. Hill, the Blegens, and of course yourself, I remain
As ever
