Dear Mr. Hill,

I have now been in America for about three weeks, and am gradually getting used to things again. I am having a very pleasant visit here seeing my family and old friends, and making new friends. I will leave in about a fortnight to return east to Philadelphia and get down to work.

I had a hurried trip over, but a pleasant one, with about ten days in London. I ran into Mrs. Hill at lunch at Sir John Forsdyke's and we had a nice chat. I had a hurried look at the Cesnola collection during my two days in New York, but will hope to see more of it when I am in the east.

I had some photographic work done by Sinclair in London, the place that was recommended to me. They are very slow and rather expensive, but the work is beautiful. George will do very well to send his work to them. He has the completed equipped dark room, so I am going to try my hand at making enlargements of some of our dig pictures, and hope to get better results than I have been having in Athens. I am keeping an account of what I spend (so far very little), and deducting it from my £10 surplus.

I really have been working on the palace, as I threatened doing, and am making some headway.
