OFFICE GEO. H. McFADDEN & BRO. 1606-1611 PACKARD BUILDING Cable Address Macfadden

Philadelphia September 1st, 1938

B. H. Hill, Esq., 9 Plutarch Street, Athens, Greece.

Dear Mr. Hill:

I have just thought of another possible objection to your preferred plan for the kitchen and bathroom. The door leading from the centre room to the kitchen by your plan will not be opposite the door leading to the northwest room. I do not want any door leading into the southwest room because I feel that room should be isolated from the house. There must be a door into the northwest room as there is no other way to get into it except by going through the southwest room and these two rooms should have separate entrances. I feel the door leading into the kitchen should be opposite the door leading into the northwest room or the room, it seems to me, will not look nearly so attractive.

I have therefore cabled RUSSOS as follows: Quote Make no changes in the kitchen and bedroom plan Writing Mr. Hill. Unquote.

I unfortunately have not your plan with me and I cannot remember it and I cannot at the moment think of another plan which would meet the above difficulty. If I can think of one I will send the plan on to you and if you approve it mightnot be too late to have the plan changed again. The plumbing is not to go in until after our arrival.

I have not yet been to the museum but hope to go today or tomorrow, so I do not know whether Pete has arrived in this country or not. I arrived on the BREMEN on the 23rd of August and I am expecting to sail on the QUEEN MARY on the 21st of September and should arrive in Athens not later than the first week of October. I do not know whether the SAMOTHRACE will be ready or not to sail to Cyprus. The motors should have been delivered aboard but there may have been difficulties in obtaining the necessary permits from the government. You will have heard probably from Nikita what the prospects are.

Is there anything I can bring with me for you from Paris or from here. Only a cable will reach me now but a letter sent to Paris in care of Morgan & Co. will reach me on my way back to Athens.

Hoping you have had a pleasant and successful summer at Nenea, and looking forward to seeing you soon, I am

Yours as ever,
