July 26, 1938Dear Mr. Hill,

Thank you very much for your letter of July 19th. It is a great shame I stupidly forgot to bring the plans for the house with me down to Corinth as then we might have talked over the arrangements and alternative plans. it is difficult to do so in a letter on account of the limit of time. Your alternative plan is certainly more practical from the W.C. stand point. It has the disadvantage, though perhaps a small one, of having the kitchen somewhat further removed from the dining room which I feel will almost always be the centre room upstairs. If this is so, the centre room down stairs would be a show room in which case the W.C. would have the desired privacy. One passing through would probably find no one there, and if he did, he would simply be disappearing into a dark vestibule which leads into the wash room, kitchen and W.C. the kitchen door into the vestibule would be locked in this case be always locked. The food would be brought upstairs through the door leading into the verandah. the W.C., of course, the, as you point out in your letter, would not be so accesible to the apothekes. Another point is that I want the facade(the south facade on the verandah) to have three double folding doors, as this symetrical arrangement I think looks best. Your W.C. vestibule would not show, of course, being behind the stairway. Double folding doors might appear queer considering they lead only into a bath room. Another point is I feel there is an advantage having the kitchen on the verandah as then the servants are within call from all points. I should appreciate it very much if you would let me know what you think of these considerations. I have to go out to dinner almost immediately so must close now but will write again if I think of any other points. I will send the money for the trenches to Christo.

Sincerely yours,
