… of Casson's new book on Cyprus. It is one really, because Myres looked at that Minoan pot on my introduction. But Miss Swindler and others assure me that the discourtesy is certainly not his but Casson's. In any case it just shows we ought not to be so slow. Miss Swindler said that she might be able to squeeze the report into the next number of the Journal.
I should like very well to have another set of prints of the field photographs. Fresh ones come out better perhaps, and I d[handwritten: o]n't awfully like to send away to the printer these with their numbers and contemporary comments written on the back. But of course we do send the plan to him. The large pictures are numbered in red 7-11, smaller ones 52-57 and 245 ("From SW end of 405 looking NE etc.") and still smaller are A7 and A8 (in pencil) of which however A7 is probably not clear enough for publication. If we use no. 12 of the small VG camera I suppose it ought to be enlarged. Would you please tell me if that streak in the foreground, right, of large photo no.7 is a [handwritten: xxxxx] on the plate? One more thing: I find no photograph showing the pots beached high at the left of the entrance, though I think one was taken. If there are any more pictures that I haven't got, I should be grateful if you would [handwritten: send] send them to me.
If it comes to a possibility of getting into the Journal, are you willing that this report should go to press without the manuscript going first to Athens? No question but I should prefer to have your improvements, and very likely the problem won't arise, but I am getting a little agitated over the entanglements of this work, and should really like to feel free to burst forth, in a small way, with this information which I should have been able to release some years ago. I know what a nuisance a letter of this sort is to a busy person, yet hope you may let me hear from you before too long, perhaps with a little news thrown in.
Yours sincerely,
