April 16th. Continuing letter of this date.

I have made a small change in the boundaries of the area to be expropriated along the path east of trench III, which I wish you would explain to Christo. The plan enclosed will show what I have in mind. Down the path about 20m from the point zeta (which is 2m below zeta) mark a new zeta in the line of delta-epsilon. Then carry the line delta-epsilon-new zeta up across the road and mark theta about 2.50 from the center of the road. The line theta-zeta-epsilon-delta will of course be a straight line. From theta we should like a straight line northwestward to the corner of lot 45 where it meets lots 4 and 46; but I think the road goes a little too far NE at one point to allow a straight line to clear it. If so mark a point iota about as shown in the plan. If stake 7 is not well clear of the road and path have it moved a bit to NE. The line I have drawn from iota to the corner of the lot may perhaps just as well go from iota to stake 7, if it will clear the road.

I used the last cheque in the second Curium Excavations cheque-book to pay for my ticket last Sunday £6:1:5. The bank has probably by now handed you a new cheque-book.

You have of course remembered to arrange so that Mr.Cacoyanni can draw when he is ready £23:5: for rental of the house etc. I signed written instructions to him to settle the matter for us but did not send him the order on the bank. You will need also before you leave to arrange so that the £120+ for the expropriated land may be available when required. I don't imagine that actual payment will be made for a long time, but it may be necessary for us to have payment of our share guaranteed beforehand. The bank will take care of the matter of course if you so request. The money will be paid when the time comes as Govt. may direct. or the Court.

This unfortunately is as far as the time allows this letter to go. I'll write next via Egypt and air.

Christo put in an appeal for help to the extent of houserent when he has married, as if I understood he will do now soon. I made no commitment, positive or negative, but imagine that he received the impression that I would mention the matter to you. Perhaps you will let him know that I did mention it and that we concluded -- whatever you like. I'll take part of the onus or the refusal if you think best not to allow the extra 5s per month. Or if you prefer, unless he raises the question, let the matter slide until you get here and I will then write him the decision.

When you go to Nicosia you'd better write in the Governor's book and ask to see his aide & pr.secretary, Capt.Lloyd-Carson -- forenoon preferable, I think. This in order to inquire whether a decision has been reached concerning the £60 so that proper arrangements can be made on our side. I'll send the official letter designating the areas required, in alternative forms (lot 45 entire and parts of 46 and 4, or parts of lots 4, 45 & 46) either to you in care of the Museum or direct to Dikaios, expecting you, or him and you if you haven't left the island, or him if you have left, to use the appropriate letter and return the alternative form to me. I've done the two plans, but there isn't time to write the letters. Of course you will have brought Dikaios the inscribed jar so that he can have a cast made and let you carry off the original. Di to give you two or three Lapithos plates and a print for me. The prints I've had made for him will be sent by the next mail and I hope he will have them by Friday week or the following Monday at latest.
