DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES, CYPRUS.

16th April,1936.

Urgent.

B.H.Hill, Esq, [handwritten: Athens?] 9 Plutarch Street, Athens.

With reference to the proposed acquisition of land at Curium for carrying out excavation, will you please let me know as soon as possible how much your expedition is prepared to spend were the Government to contribute £ 60.; i.e. how much in all will be required for the acquisition of the site desired. I would like to know whether you agree that the care-taker, who would continue to be employed and paid by the expedition, should charge entrance fees and pay them to the Government account if the Government agrees to contribute towards the cost of acquisition.

2. It is understood that the property to be acquired would be expropriated by the Crown and become Government property; and I am to ask you to confirm this.

Yours truly, [handwritten: signature] [handwritten: by Dr. Ann?] [handwritten: Reid R. Ames?] [handwritten: 29th Apr.]
