September 24, 1935Dr. Jotham Johnson The University Museum Thirty Third and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Dear Dr. Johnson:

I saw Professor Dinsmoor yesterday upon his return from the country. He assured me that he had seen you and spoken to you about me - evidently, since you wrote me last.

Professor Dinsmoor intimated that an important consideration for your inability to secure an appointment for me on Dr. Hill's staff was the lack of adequate funds. Permit me to say in this connection that no great consequence to me, and that, if this question is the main difficulty in the way of my getting an appointment, you will find me willing to agree to very modest terms in return for my services.

As I stated in my first letter to you, it is the field experience which I am eager to acquire; and, as Professor Dinsmoor tells me, there are few men who can help me in this better than Dr. Hill.

I do not need to emphasize that, if the University Museum and Dr. Hill were to honour me with a post, I would do the utmost to justify their trust in me.

Finally, I might add that, through the kind assistance of an expert surveyor, I was able this past summer to learn a little more about surveying, although I am far from having attained proficiency in this field.

Sincerely yours
