known Mr. Parrette for some six years. He is a graduate Architect from Yale 1930. He is qualified to do the work, is hard working resourceful and accurate. He is furthermore a top-notch draftsman and renderer. His surveying knowledge, though not of a professional calibre, is, I believe, adequate for the work he will be required to do. His disposition and temperament are such as would have no difficulty in fitting in with the atmosphere of the expedition.
Though the matter of salary as mentioned by Dr. Hill had no bearing upon my decision, it probably will have in Mr. Parrette's case, as I know he is in rather shallow water'. On the basis of a salary and with conditions not improving on this side he would probably be able to stay on for the fall expedition.
In case you should be interested in consulting Mr. Parrette, I have advised him that you would communicate with him c/o Cram and Parrette, Architects 87 East Ave., Norwalk, Connecticut

I am so attached to Greece, not to mention being particularly fond of working with Dr. Hill, that my present inability to go out has quite destroyed my composure. I hope that this season's refusal will not discourage you or Dr. Hill from again asking me in the future, as my life is generally so arranged that I can go anywhere at a moment's notice.
Yours very sincerely.
