June 1, 1935Dear Mr. Jayne, I have been intending to write you for some time but had hoped to hear something from you in reply to my letter of early March about the prospects of our digging in Cyprus another season. We are in very bad need of an architect, and Mr. Hill, not wishing to prorun the risk of missing Miss Coxe, who just now is available, curing Miss Coxe, for the Fall, has written should we want her, she would come for the next to ask her whether she would be able to the extent of fifty season. He had hoped, if the part of the the Museum is to be to the Cypriot fund now, percent, that the Museum would be able to contribute $500.00 for the Summer, in order to or before the end of Miss Coxe. This would include take care of her passage from America. Financially, I dont think I would have any difficulty in seeing through another season, as I know that the Museum eventually, when it is able, will reemburse me for its share in the expedition of this Spring and of next Autumn. If I were merely one of several, and for the moment not the sole contributor, I might be able to contribute even more than I am doing at present, but as sole contributor this is impossible, as it makes my position on the funds quite what it is short of funds, though I know you will underare very short of funds, I would appreciate it very stand this, and I would cable me that you will be much if you would make an advance of $500.00 in order able to take care of Miss Coxe. Without an architect it would be very difficult for us to continue. We have a good deal to show for our work
