Dear Mr. Hill,

Your letter arrived on schedule, and I checked your measurements this morning. I had to do them with a tape measure, and there was a moderate wind blowing, so that I cannot lay claim to absolute accuracy, but here they are as best I could get them.

First of all, your measurements from E-E' are correct. I got 76.08, in contrast to your 76.56, but the wind could easily account for my shorter measure. The others are:

F to stake west of trench IV : 46.70 F to F': 19.54 F' to traverse no. 4 : 59.85 F' to stake at S. end of trench VI : 12.85

There are good firm red-painted stakes at all your base points.

I expect to finish the digging in Kaloriziki
