Dear Pete,

I was very much pleased to have your good letter of the 11th, which came to hand by the very quick post. I shall have to be quite brief in this letter, but I wish you and Mrs. Ross had been here to see the work on the site; it has gone on very well by the help of the weather, and the plan of the location and the stations is nearly complete. I am afraid we are running a little behind in our finances, and I think the salary of the staff should be paid, but I do not know whether the paying of it can be arranged before the end of the month. I think that it would be better to wait until you have seen the Christoforides account and the sums due to the workmen.

The expedition is still in the hands of the Department and the letter about the Kourion objects has not yet arrived. I hope you will have it by the time you read this. The objects found in the Apollo sanctuary are being cleaned and numbered, and the lamps in particular are in very good condition.

Hurriedly, as usual,
