… which sails from NewYork January 26 and from Boston the 27th. Perhaps, if you find that the "Conte di Savoia" will get you here a trifle too soon or if you prefer not to change at Naples, you may come by the same boat as Mr.Blegen. He will be at 224 Lincoln St. Englewood, New Jersey, the first days of the new year, then at the University of Cincinnati until a couple of days before he sails.

I should not think that we should stay on at Kourion more than a week or ten days after we stop digging, but I imagine that this might bring us to the beginning of June. I should like myself to get away about then, to have a fortnight or so with Mr.Blegen at Troy.

The thing we need most to have you bring is a serviceable theodolite by which we can read angles accurately -- preferably vertical ones as well as horizontal -- with a stadiometer to measure distances, and having a tripod with adjustable legs.

Miss Cox would have been ready to come to Cyprus had we been working this autumn, but there is a chance that she will be occupied in Cilicia the whole spring. I understand that she is to go there at any rate with Miss Goldman's Bryn Mawr expedition. Perhaps, howeve we can secure Miss Cox's services before or after Cilicia. As yet I have no one else in mind for the Expedition. It is an architect who will be most needed. Miss Cox would be just right for all phases of t the job.

There is more to be written, but I will stop here and try to catch the air mail, which would give this letter a chance of leaving France the 21st.

I paid a surprise visit to the "Samothrace" the 4th, and Nikita called on me here last week.

With all best wishes for a good New Year,

Sincerely,
