Description

Thick stone walls with a rounded tower in the foreground project towards the sea on the right. Walls run back across the middle distance past a cluster of low white buildings, and a flag flies from a pole above them. Mountains rise in hazy outline on the left, and the open water stretches across the background under a pale sky.

English

A stone fortress with massive rounded towers stands on the shore at Kyrenia, with the sea and a low hillside behind. Walkways run along the top of the walls, and a flag flies above a group of buildings near the harbour.

TIMEA's description

Fortress overlooking water. Black-and-white photograph.
