Friday 18 October 1963The day is devoted to the cleaning of the walls of the Sanctuary, in which two new transverse N-S walls have been well brought to light, the thickest and most important, between the two altars and covered, in the south part of the Hall by the successive hearths [911] surrounded by sherds of pottery; the other wall, in small rubble, narrower, also oriented N-S, is limited to the portion north of the Hall, and beneath the II principal floor of it. This earlier wall marks on the other hand the separation hitherto not very clear, between the West part of the subsoil of the Hall, with a thick layer of ash, and the East part, where this layer does not exist and where the floor III rests directly on the rock.
