Monday 16 September 1963Opening of the excavations of the 16th campaign at ENKOMI, at 6h 30, with 33 workmen, distributed over the trenches North Temple (supervision J. Lagarce) and West Dallage,

During this first day, the excavation again revealed the great frequency of old excavations "pits or badjas", as well as in the North Temple trench as well as in the West Dallage trench, where one reached the average depth of 0 m 50, where the archaeological ground is still in place. Very few sherds at first, in the 25 first centimetres. Much more abundant afterwards.

– In the area of the Sanctuary of the Centaurs the clearing of the earth and sand brought in is undertaken with the help of women: one notes thus with satisfaction the good state of the site.
