Tuesday 17 Nov.59._ Fine, cool. 5 1/2 day's work.

Pt. 239, large hearth with numerous vessels lying in the ashes, one with a large spout (drawing) and strainer similar to the painted vase of the intermediate type from the House 18. This hearth which contains a number of cones in t. c. (also parall. to M. 18 iron hearth) in the thick ashes and a polette beam calcined which we will take for Carb. 14 lies on the thick white floor which in House 18 is of the Late Bronze, contemporary with the fine architect. It is therefore probable that this is again a hearth of the beginning of the Iron Age or extreme end of the Late Bronze, contemporary with the use of the white floor, as we observed in House 18. — Photos various. before removal.
