NB. to make concrete the opposition to positive reactions, I have described as negative the reactions provoked or to be provoked by the walls, whereas in reality they correspond to an absence of reaction. - all the walls cleared in the SE area are rubble walls, somewhat dressed at the heads and corners. - we were able to observe that a wall which had to cross a natural cavity in the rock gives rise indiscriminately to two kinds of levelling. - the cavity is filled up to the level of the top of the rock and the independent wall is set on top of it - the wall is founded at the bottom of the cavity, which is then filled in.

Drawing: two cross-sections showing two ways a wall crosses a rock cavity filled with stones; labels: rock
