25/10/55 Pt 84: well to the S.-W. of the base of the column. Trench South 8/5 - Well filled with stones, including 9 drums of column at the top - At 3 m 80 below the base of the column, moulded square stone: (drawing) Sherds difficult to identify -

Trench North 1. West of road - - South side, layer 10 is a tomb robbed of Late Bronze date -

- Pt 74 side - "red on red" sherd MB picked up by Mr Schaeffer at the top of the East-West wall which separates the two loci - This explains the presence of an open spout with "red on red" decoration found in the same place (cf p. 44) - Is there one wall or 2 walls abutting? There is no relation between these sherds and the layers of Pt 74 down to the rock which are Iron - The presence of these MB sherds poses a problem; this wall rests on the rock; would it be earlier than the adjacent layers?
