Enkomi (Alasia)

Campaign 1950. (5th C.)

Thursday 14 Sept.My arrival at N. by plane at 5h 1/2. Interview with Mr Megaw. Friday 15 Sept. Inspection of the finds of Dik. from his 1949 campaign in relation to his report. Nothing decisive in favour of his thesis on the date of floor V to the post-Mycenaean period. Discussion with him. - Afternoon inspection of the repaired vessels of our 1949 campaign kept at the Khan, annex of the Museum. Saturday 16 September. Departure at 8h with Megaw and Dik to Enk. to inspect the excavations of their 1950 campaign. What I see there in situ of the new material from their 1950 campaign is in favour of the date proposed by Dik. for the fine building (ashlar) at the entirely Mycenaean period or immediately post-Mycenaean. Nothing of the 14th or 13th apparently in this level V. To be checked however.
