Phoned Famagusta for birthe of Dido's baby etc. and to 12 h ~ at Enkomi, pleased. - At 2 h ~ the region inspects the excavations and soundings made, satisfactory.

9th day of workTuesday 24 Nov.Continuation of soundings enclosure N + S and door E W is roughly fixed. Enclosure here lies beyond (= W) of the road path Enko-Stylos. - Nothing to report. Organise excavations and write letter to Megaw to say that I do not can stop excavations S + N of the temple area, but that I do not continue E + W for him to attribute here small glacis, for checks during publication. - I note that the policy of Diki. is to dredge drag out the work over time. I will maintain that excavations are finished. in 1953 and only the gate of the N rampart near the road Enk.- Limnia Stylos is to be finished in 1954. - I think that the last finds, notably the tablet with writing Minoan have given Diki. an appetite to continue. Letter to Megaw sent at 11 h ~ . Copy enclosed.
