and possibly the continuation of the dig along the town wall.

The socalled "temple area" in which your department has excavated is well defined on its northern, eastern and southern limits by an ancient (Alasia) road which will of course be respected and preserved and provide in this way a convenient promenade around this area as you ask for. But the buildings ajoining these roads along their north, east and south borders are not connected with the "temple area". They belong to the areas of the buildings partially excavated by me in my north trench and in the trenches east of the area of building 18. I therefore would ask you not to press me to stop my research in these "islands" of the town lying outside of the socalled "temple area".

There is, however, over the eastern road an extension of the "temple area" partially dug by your department and left untouched for sometime. This extension and its borders, I shall not touch during my present work until you had time to come over here to tell me what eventual addition you wishes to be temporarily reserved in connection with checking work during the period of the preparation of the final publication of this "temple area."
