Thera Museum, Santorini - Thera Island, Saturday 20 September.

Dear Prof. Hundt, I write to you with warm greetings from here, where we are studying the volc. and seismological destruction of the Late Minoan period. I have also spoken with Mr Karageorghis (of Nicosia) about the question of how the Greeks could compensate your Institute's great help for the rescue of the Enkomi bronzes in some manner. He proposes accepts that you cast the Byzantine silver and gold find from Lambousa mould can which the in Mainz could be done. Karageorghis told me that I should submit a letter to his museum to set out the reasons clearly so that the Minister can give permission for the moulding of the Lambousa find. - I understood from your colleagues that this solution would at least to a small extent represent a counter-service from the Museum for the conservation and rescue of the Enkomi finds could. Please write to me at St. Germain en Laye (14 rue Turgot) what you think of it and whether I should submit the letter I have requested to the Museum. I will be back there in St. Germain on 26 or 27 September and you can also reach me by telephone in St. Germain (963-1347). I will stay there until 14 October, perhaps a little longer. I hope that your visit to St. Germain or Paris will allow me to see you again. With warm greetings also to your colleagues

Your ever devoted and grateful C. F A Schaeffer.
