Herrn Prof.Dr.C.F.A.Schaeffer Collège de France Chair of Archaeology of Western Asia P a r i s (5e) 11, Place Marcelin-Berthelot

Dear, very honoured Herr Professor Schaeffer,

![?ErwähnteMany thanks for your letter of 3.5. If you have time and opportunity at the end of this Month, to come to Mainz, we would be very pleased about your visit. You could on this occasion collect the Pharaoh's head, but could also look at our work so far, which, I hope, will give you pleasure. We have been very busy, but not all the finds from Enkomi have yet been conserved, since we, forced by progressive decay, have begun with the most difficult pieces. The swords, some knives, hammers and hoes are finished. The rest will however still require some time. It seems to me that in any case / Dikaios un / d'autres ici / de Chypre?] it makes sense to mould all pieces of some importance in synthetic resin . If one of the pieces should really start working again in the Mediterranean climate , then the finds would have been saved for science in the copies. This applies not only to the fine swords but also to the cult wagon, which has become very interesting. The finds should therefore, -including the finished ones-, remain here until all work, incl. moulding, is completed. A few days ago Herr Lagarcé wrote to me that he wished to visit us this month in order to see the pieces and perhaps draw them. I wrote to him in the same sense. We look forward to your visit. With warm greetings, Your very devoted H.-J. Hundt (H.-J.Hundt)
