Nikosia after half a year would have been irretrievably dissolved. You will see from this account that the conservation is very difficult, and of course also time-consuming. [ Herr Lagarce could not reach the pieces, because we currently must not remove or interrupt the nitrogen protection. All objects are separately provided with their associated labels. In no case can anything get mixed up. He may therefore be unworried regarding the inventory. As soon as a visit by Herr Lagarce is sensible, we will give notice. This postponement would also ease Herr Lagarce's work, since we of course make photographs for documentation, which would be available to him after conservation is completed. I have one more question. [ Herr Dipl.Chem. Ankner has in an analysis of the light green powdered interior of the bronzes found over 15% copperchloride.[ This enormously high chlorine content is hard for us to understand. Was the well at times within the range of seawater? Only so could one understand this high chlorine content. [ It is greater than we have ever been able to establish in a heavily oxidised bronze, and it is also the cause of the rapid deterioration upon exposure to atmospheric oxygen. The bronzes not found in the well seem to us not so affected. [
With warm greetings and the best regards from my colleagues
Yours very devotedly

P.S. As you wished, I am sending a copy of this letter for information to Herr Lagarce.
