DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES NICOSIA.

9th August, 1958

Dear Mr. Aitken,

At Professor Schaeffer's request we have collected six top-soil samples and two samples from earth fillings from tombs on the Engomi site. I enclose a list. We have dispatched the samples by air freight to the Research Laboratory for Archaeology. We hope they will reach you in sufficient time before your departure for Cyprus.

The attached plan of the site shows the spots from which the samples were collected.

Yours faithfully,

Handwritten: (Sgd.) A.H.S. MEGAW

(A.H.S. Megaw) Director of Antiquities.

J. Aitken Esq., Research Laboratory for Archaeology 6, Keble Road Oxford.
