Your Ref. 1
19th January, 1959
Dear Proffessor Schaeffer,
Many thanks for your letter of the 8th January, and for your kind wishes. My wife and myself send you and Madame Schaeffer our kindest wishes for the New Year.
I have noted what you say in your letter about the keys of the dig house at Engomi. The only difficulty which I see is that Security Forces may order the custodian to open the rooms in which case he will be unable to do so. However your wishes will be complied with.
I enclose three prints of aerial photographs of the Engomi Excavations, furnished by the Royal Air Force. The cost £0.600 mils will be debited to your account with us.
I have passed your message to Karageorghis.
With regard to your query on the Khirokitia chronology as compared with Jericho I will study the matter and write to you again. I have sent charcoal to Stockholm for a C14 test and I hope that meanwhile the results will also be available.
Mr Megaw is now writing his usual "Archaeology in Cyprus" for 1958 and would like to have a short report on your 1958 season at Enkomi. I shall be grateful if you will let me have the report at your earliest convenience. As soon as I receive it I will forward it to Mr.Megaw - Unless you wish to send it direct to him c/o Dumbarton Oaks, 1703 - 32 Street, Washington. D.C. USA.
With kindest greetings to you and Madame Schaeffer.
Yours sincerely,
