Here is my second report on the excavations at Enkomi with press cuttings enclosed for filing. We have had abominable heat throughout the whole duration of the work. It was broken yesterday in a sudden and almost dramatic way by a violent storm, followed by cool rain today . I am taking advantage of it to put my papers, reports, coins etc. in order. - Health of the whole mission is good. Here is my itinerary: will be in Beirut on 5 October; Byblos and Ugarit follow on the 17th. In the meantime I shall go to Tyre and Sidon. I expect serious difficulties on the part [handwritten: (cf. 3 reports)] of the Syrians, but I shall do my best. Everything is a decision taken: to cut off all [handwritten: other] Arab countries, it is a lot of refusal. - Then to be back around 5 Nov. How, I do not yet know anything! Respects to you and cordially yours
