Dear Dr. Plenderleith ,
The Enkomi bowl has safely arrived here and will be exhibited in the Louvre in a few days . I can now only measure the difficulties of your work to safe & restaure this fine piece . I again thank you . Bowl & stand will be returned to the Brit. Embassy in Paris in about 2 months time & , according to the arrangements made by Megaw, travel then directly to Nicosia via the Colonial Office . I am afraid we will not see it again , except if we go to Nicosia , for there is a provision in the Cyprus Ant Law permitting to replace in the half share of the excavator exceptional pieces . And in spite of the fact that my excavations have produced several , the bowl , will probably stay there . I have asked Klincksieck , last year , to send you a copy of the Enk. - Alasia volume . I hope it has arrived . If not , please let me know .
Yours sincerely C F Schaeffer.
