30, March 1953 .
Dear Professor Ashmole, The Enkomi bowl has safely arrived and will be put on show in the Louvre in a few days. The restauration by Plenderleith is a splendid piece of work . Also I am grateful for having sent the stand also . After about 2 months, both will be sent back to the Colonial Office for despatch to Nicosia . Megaw informs me that he has already made the necessary arrangements . I understand that the bowl will not be returned to the B. M. but travel directly to Nicosia . I am afraid neither you nor I will then see it again except if we go to Cyprus. That brings me back to your letter of June 7th, 1952 and the master copy made by Plenderleith. Has any decision been reached as to the destination ? You remember that in my letter of 3 avril 1952, I asked if a copy could be made and that I asked at what cost for me . I shall acknowledge the receipt of the original to Plenderleith , but I do not know if the question of the copy is in his hands or yours . — I had asked last year Klincksieck to send your Department a copy of E. Alasia - I . I hope it has arrived. If not , please let me know . With kind regards, Yours sincerely C F A Schaeffer .
