bowl / expos. a Paris / (replica ?) 6/6/52

Dear Professor Ashmole, I hope the exhibition of the Enkomi bowl has started well. The Director of Antiquities in Cyprus has agreed that the bowl, after exhibition & eventual treatment for a replica, should be exhibited in the Louvre Museum. I have arranged Here that this could be done in November & December. So I would be grateful to you, towards middle of October to have the bowl well packed send to the diplomatic bag of the Foreign Office for dispatch to the Br. Embassy in Paris. The Louvre authorities will collect than the parcel there. When I return from Cyprus & the N. E. middle of december, I shall myself look that the bowl is returned to London by the same way for despatch by the Governor's bag to Nicosia. Megaw will write to the For. Off. & Paris Embassy to inform them of the arrangements. I thank you in advance for your kind help in the matter. I am told by friends there was an article or note in the Times about the bowl. Could you have them asked to send me a copy? I look also forward to Mr Plenderleith's estimate of the cost of the replica. Yours sincerely C. F. A. Schaeffer.
