Dear Dr. Schaeffer,

vertical line spanning 6 linesThank you for your letters, the last of which arrived yesterday: to-day I had one from Megaw. I have had a further talk with Dr. Plenderleith about making a reproduction of the bowl. He is considering what method he could employ to avoid the possibility of damage, and has said provisionally that he will undertake it. He states that the Trustees would not, in his opinion, wish to make any charge to you for the work, but that he would need two months for the moulding, and another month for putting the bowl, its restored parts and its loose pieces, in order again. This means that if we withdraw it from exhibition, as we intend, at the end of August, it will not be free to travel to Paris before the end of November. This would be in time for exhibition at Christmas; since Megaw seems to have no objection to the delay I hope the arrangement may prove acceptable to you.

We are looking forward keenly to seeing "Enkomi-Alasia", and will try to arrange to collect it in Paris. The publication in the Illustrated London News has aroused much interest, and seems to me to be admirable.* The note in the Times was also excellent, and I hope met your wishes.

With kind regards yours sincerely Bernard Ashmole.

Dr, C. F. A. Schaeffer, Le Castel Blanc, 14 Rue Turgot, St. Germain-en-Laye, France.

* Thank you so much for sending me copies.
