Ref. C.14 9th November, 1951.

Dear Dr. Schaeffer,

Thank you for your letters of the 25th and 29th October, and the 5th November.

Yours are the only proofs that have reached me and they are returned, herewith, corrected, together with proofs of the plates which arrived from Paris to-day. If you would kindly verify that the prints are correctly correlated with the Ms and pass them to the printers I would be grateful.

I am glad that you are arranging for exhibition and press publicity direct with Kenrick. I shall hand over the bowl to Ashmole when I am quite sure that it has attained equilibrium - possibly in a month's time. There is, by the way, a little scratch on the base like an inverted like this.

Figure: hand-drawn sketch of an inverted cross-like mark on the base of the bowl; labels: none

With regard to the coloured photograph, I understand that Mr. Burroughs has not yet returned to London but is expected back in about a week's time. As soon as I know he is in town I shall pass on your order to him.

I regret that the two original prints to which you refer were omitted and they are enclosed herewith. Also the new arrangement that you desired. Mr. Hall has now prepared a series of plates for the photomontage, ensemble and you may expect to receive this soon.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Schaeffer, Institut Français d'Archéologie, Boîte Postale 14.24, Beyrouth, Liban.
