Ankner ? Dear Herr Ankner, I warmly thank you for the photos of the swallow bowl, the Luristan vase and the bar god (Nergal), sent to me by Frl. Taylor at your request, sowie Ihren Bericht. Letzterer wird, wenn Sie es as well as your report. The latter will, if you permit, appear in Alasia, vol. II next year. Regarding the greaves initially suspected, so I would like to refer again to the profile X-ray, which indeed wonderfully mimics a greave that ends straight above the foot with a forward sweep, as such "cnemides" from Greek and late periods show. Perhaps you can look at this detail again at some point. – Your decision that it is a proper tin bronze (of 10-15%) and not copper, as the light green original patina suggested, is very important. With renewed warm thanks for all the valuable help and information, and best greetings to Dr. Schaaff, Hummel, Lhotzky and the gentleman who restored the swallow bowl so beautifully Yours faithfully C F A Schaeffer Forrer
