Dear Prof. Schaeffer,

Since I wrote last on 18th December, there is some progress to report.

The consignment of Enkomi finds left ultimately on the "Bellino" on 16th January, as you will have heard from other sources. It was due at Marseilles ca end of January. I anxiously await news of the condition of the vases on arrival. The lists of contents of each case were attached to the copy of the export licence which Mantovani has sent with the other papers.

I now enclose the 1956 and 1957 statements of your account which I hope you find in order. You will see that we got £40 for the lease of the Enkomi site for grazing. The photographs of the 1955 material selected by de Contenson (2 vases and sherds) have already been sent on the 17th December by the Office. I now enclose those of the selected vases from tomb 110 (1957) and the group photograph of tomb 134. The cost of all these is being debited to your account.

I understand from Commander Proud that Wideson's film, which I did not see in final form is now with you for preparation of the commentary.

Since writing the above I have received your letter of 26th January, for which many thanks. I am sorry to hear of the mishap to the bull-crater from T.2 (49) and trust that the crater from T.7 (49) will not suffer the same fate. I congratulate you on the approval of your funds for the next campaign. I fear we are not so fortunate and will not be able to do so much at Salamis and elsewhere this year as we did in 1957.
