Ausonia , le 8/XII/57. Dear Director Megaw, Everything went well before a during our departure with the allocated antiquities and we are now on our way back to home and Paris. Thank you for having improved the Communiqué. I would be grateful for having send me the revelant cuttings of the Cyprus Mail, also of the other information you gave or intend to give to the Press. — I enclose the official acceptance of the division with my thanks. Preparing my report to the Commission des Fouilles , I notice that in all about 946 objects were attributed to the Cyprus Museum, against 1163 to the French Expedition. As you retained the two major pieces (horned god + silver and gold bowl), there can be no doubt, even in the mind of the strangest Cypriot nationalist , that the Fr. Ex. did certainly not get more than the half share fixed by the Ant. Law. Statement of Account. Would it be possible to send me a copy of the account preceding the last one received, showing a balance of 18 £ 094 and then an up-todate account of the present position. This for the end of the year when Kuss has finished packing a drawings.
