DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES NICOSIA 25th November, 1957.

Our Ref. 82/56 Your Ref.

Sir,

In exercise of the powers vested in me by Section 16(1)(c) of the Antiquities Law (Cap.43), and to paragraph 3 of the memorandum dated 21st November, 1947, concerning our collaboration in the excavation of the Bronze Age Site at Enkomi I have selected for the Cyprus Museum the items detailed in the first enclosure to this letter from the antiquities discovered in the excavations at the above site conducted by your French Archaeological Mission and by this Department during the years 1946 to 1956.

2. The items discovered in the same excavations and detailed in the second enclosure to this letter are hereby allocated to you as Director of the French Archaeological Mission. Such of these items as were found in this Department's excavations will remain in the Cyprus Museum pending publication.

3. You are requested to deposit in the Cyprus Museum reproductions of the following items allocated to you:

Bronze Statuette No.5502 (French excavations) Bronze Throne No.5501B " "

4. You are further requested to deposit on loan in the Cyprus Museum for temporary exhibition the bronze sceptre No.5774 (French excavations).

5. In order to complete our record of the material hereby divided, you are requested to supply me with copies of the inventories of the French Mission's finds in its 1946 and 1947 campaigns, with the exception of the bronze board (Nos.5752 to 5786) of which an inventory extract has already been received.

6. It is understood that the items allocated to you in this division will be lodged in due course in the Louvre Museum. I should be obliged if this Department is informed if any of them find a permanent home elsewhere, in order that we may deal with future enquiries about their whereabouts.

7. All finds from the excavations in question which are not detailed in the enclosures to this letter are held over for division at a later date. In the case of bronze objects this will be done after they have been cleaned and in the case of stratified pottery after its study has been completed.

I have the honour to be Sir, Your obedient Servant,
