Fouilles d'Enkomi-Alasia, Nov. 6th, 1957.
Dear M. Megaw, Rain has interrupted work except in the tombs, where we can go on ourselves & with the specialists. M. R. Wilson came & worked Saturday & Sunday morning with us. He came back to-day & worked the whole day again in the tombs, returning to-morrow for another day of general aspects of the dig. He has enlarged the film into a more or less complete picture of the excavations. We shall have to determine the procedure of distribution later. The sound commentary shall be added when I come to Nicosia, here he records the noise of the work only. He is a pleasant and enthousiastic cinéast. – I intend to finish the general excavations in the course of the next week provided weather is not deteriorating too much. My two architects will have another fortnights work to finish the detailed survey & the plans in & around the tombs. They will be on the spot therefore until end of the month. – M. de Contenson will leave here on Friday for an archaeological mission in Ethiopia where he remains 6 months to undertake a second season of excavations at Axoum
