DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES NICOSIA 19th March, 1956.

Dear Professor Shaeffer,

I was away in England last month and consequently though Dikaios issued the renewal of your licence some points in your last letters were held over. I have now to thank you also for your letter of 13th March. On receipt of that of 22nd January in which you first mentioned the division Dikaios and I discussed the matter. We see no difficulty in arranging for the division to be done during your next visit and have already started preparing the necessary documentation on the finds from our two areas.

We are also going into the question of packing your Vounous material, about which we have heard from Stewart as well as from you. If we are able to fill the vacancies now existing in the Museum staff we should be in a position to undertake the packing later in the year.

Berard's material is already packed and ready to go as soon as I receive from him the directions which you say I should now expect.

I hope that things will be quieter here by the Autumn. Meanwhile you may be reassured to know that so far we have been able to carry on our current campaign at Salamis.
