PCB. 7 May 1978.

Madam, I thank you for your letter of 25 April, which arrived here on 5 May concerning tablet 2001 from the excavations of the French Mission at Enkomi-Alasia of the campaign of 1969. After the recent congress in Nicosia, to which I was sorry, my successor as director of this mission, himself also an excavator in Crete, Mr O. Pelon was not invited (what rudeness and injustice on the part of its organiser Mr Karageor.), epigraphists passing through Paris have spoken to me of your join of tablet 2001 from my excavations with a fragment from the excavations of Mr Dikaios (Enk., vol II, p. 320). In their opinion, this join would not be possible, the two tablets would be of different script and non-matching thickness. I take the liberty of advising you to verify this join. As regards the tablet RS. ENK 2001 (1969), its definitive publication and reproduction will appear in the next fascicle of the Journal des Savants of the Academy, which I will send you. In the meantime I ask you to refrain from its reproduction. In his letter of 10 March, Mr Nicolaou reminded me once again that all the boxes of sherds of pottery or of fragmentary objects for analysis (wood, bronze etc)
