Dear Dr. Nicolaou, I hope you will excuse writing me with stencil, I have overworked my right hand and must be careful for a while. – With ref. to your letter of Aug. 16th, I did not ask for a renewal for the sherdloan, as they are prepared for shipment back at the next occasion. The date is impossible to fix. It depends of the future of Enkomi-Alasia research. I am glad that there is talk of returning Famagusta to the greek zone. Perhaps also, if I am obtaining (as requested) permission to fetch the scientific papers of Dr. Hadjioannou there, I might come over in early spring. But the T. "tiennent le bon bout", for they cannot be dislodged with force as the USA need them and nobody else could oblige them to release part of the occupied zone. The great disaster also is that it were not the Turks but the Colonels and their friends in the Island who tried to kill Mak. and take over independant Cyprus what started the calvaire of your country. So nobody will do anything exept talk and lengthy discussion in trying to make the situation acceptable to the greek speaking islanders.
