Scarabs found at ENKOMI - ALASIA in 1961

Inv. no. 16. (topographic point 668)

— Three figures moving towards the left and holding hands. The god who is at the centre is Amun, recognisable by his two plumes, and the god on the right, Re'-Harakhti: he has a falcon's head and his head is surmounted by the solar disk. The perfigure on the left is more difficult to identify: one may hesitate between Seknet (cf. Cairo 36315 and 36306) and a second representation of Re'-Harakhti (cf. Cairo 36307 and 36749). It is not impossible either that the god Thoth has been depicted, for one believes one recognises an ibis beak. I do not know of a scarab offering us this grouping, but I have not gone through all the published scarabs. It also happens that the king is flanked by Amun and Re'-Harakhti, but this is not the case here (cf. Cairo 36280). All these scarabs are of the XIXth or XXth Dynasty.

Inv. no. 20 (topographic point 627)

— Seated gynocephalus. A scarab in Cairo offers the same representation: the gynocephalus is seated on the sign

Figure: small boat-shaped sign] beside the cartouche of Thutmose III (Cairo

36115) which seems to date the scarab to the middle of the XVIII th Dynasty.
