Le 20 Decembre 1969.

Dear Professor Schaeffer. Yesterday when visiting Jacques and Elisabeth Lagarce, they asked me to write a short report on my trench and on the research I carried out after you had left. I hope that this short and very schematic report will be satisfactory. My full report on the streets with photographs etc, will follow after Christmas. As said in the enclosure I have, to my satisfaction proved that certain street levels, usually near the present surface, were in fact waterlain. In addition to facts already mentioned in your publication, I noticed that the so called "water levels" were always mixed with sand, where as in all the other strata there is earth. The chronology of these water laid levels is difficult to discuss at the moment, however they always appear to be Iron Age. I shall write to you in the future concerning the possibility of myself and Laina Wylde working for you in Ugarit, something we would both like to do!
