Addendum to p. 73
In the main hall (cleared only down to floor III at 0m 90 average depth — or, other horns exist lower down, according to soundings), at least 26 bull skulls were uncovered, sometimes found in position facing each other in pairs. The greatest number of skulls corresponded to floor II; but it should be noted however that these remains of offerings of animals sacrificed during cultic ceremonies are distributed in the three layers covering the three floors (I to III) of beaten earth. These bull skulls, whose horns were generally fairly well preserved, appeared as pitted with discontinuous patches of white lime and fragments of charcoal, while the nape or the forehead presented grey traces due to the action of fire. In addition to the bulls, there must have been sacrifices of deer, but less numerous: only one antler assez near a group of three bull heads were uncovered. No deliberate perforation in the parietal of the sacrificed bull skulls has yet been noted.
