… from Mari's founders, in the form of copper ingots intended to be melted with a proportion of tin that could reach 15 %, or else in the form of bronze ingots.

4. Is it, at Mari, a question of copper ingots or of copper-bearing ores ?

See answer under no.^ 3.

5. Names of cities and names of countries .

In general, in the ancient Orient, the names of countries are derived from the name of the city; e.g.: land of Assur, land of Accad, land of Mari, land of Hatti etc. It is therefore likely that the island of Cyprus was called Alaš at the time of Hammurabi - Zimrilim after the name of one of its cities most important, which would have received this name from Alaš "bronze", because of its copper trade or of mines worked in the neighbourhood. I do not know the reasons advanced by Mr Dussaud for the identification of Enkomi with Alaš, but it is not at all impossible a priori. Quite a few cities of western Asia in antiquity bear names meaning "copper", and especially "bronze", and, interestingly, these names are Sumerian, beginning with Alaš and Κυπρός.
